Principalities.

I think I have a lot to say about health care reform. However, I'm pretty sure I don't know enough about it yet to just spout off what I have heard other people say. There are a few things I know for sure.

1. Our country needs health care reform.
2. This bill is NOT the reform we need.
3. It's big government disregarding the Constitution.

I'll leave the rest to people who know much much much more than me.

"If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin."
--Samuel Adams, 1780

"A secret combination that seeks to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries is increasing its evil influence and control over America and the entire world." --President Ezra Taft Benson, 1988

"Let us willingly and heroically defend the Constitution of this land."
--President David O. McKay, 1942

"The only way to keep our freedom is to work at it. Not some of us. All of us. Not some of the time. All of the time." --President Spencer W. Kimball

"The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism, but under the name "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program until one day America will be a Socialist nation without knowing it happened."
--Norman M. Thomas (six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America)

"Do not think that these usurpations, intimidations, and impositions are being done to us through inadvertency or mistake, the whole course is deliberately planned and carried out; its purpose is to destroy the Constitution and our constitutional government."
--President J. Reuben Clark, Jr., 1949

"Today the path to total dictatorship in the U.S. can be laid by strictly legal means, unseen and unheard by Congress, the President, or the people... We have a well-organized political-action group in this country, determined to destroy our Constitution and establish a one-party state... The important point to remember about this group is not its ideology but its organization. It is a dynamic, aggressive, elite corps, forcing its way through every opening, to make a breach for a collectivist one-party state. It operates secretly, silently, continuously to transform our Government without suspecting that change is under way... If I seem to be extremist, the reason is that this revolutionary clique cannot be understood, unless we accept the fact that they are extremist. It is difficult for people governed by reasonableness and morality to imagine the existence of a movement which ignores reasonableness and boasts of its determination to destroy; which ignores morality, and boasts of its cleverness in outwitting its opponents by abandoning all scruples. This ruthless power-seeking elite is a disease of our century... This group ... is answerable neither to the President, the Congress, nor the courts. It is practically irremovable." --William E. Jenner, 1954 (U.S. Senator)

"Now I tell you it is time the people of the United States were waking up with the understanding that if they don't save the Constitution from the dangers that threaten it, we will have a change of government." --President Joseph Fielding Smith, 1950

"The free agency of Americans has been greatly abridged. Some argue that we have voluntarily surrendered this power to the government. Be this as it may, the fact remains that the loss of freedom with the consent of the enslaved, or even at their request, is nonetheless slavery." --President Marion G. Romney, 1966

"Our stand for freedom is a most basic part of our religion; this stand helped get us to this earth, and our reaction to freedom in this life will have eternal consequences. Man has many duties, but he has no excuse that can compensate for his loss of liberty." --President Ezra Taft Benson, 1979

Ephesians 6:12 For we awrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

"Come, all ye lovers of liberty, break the oppressor's rod, loose the iron grasp of mobocracy, and bring the condign punishment to all those who trample under foot the glorious Constitution and the people's rights."
--President Joseph Smith, Jr., 1844

...Just sayin'.

  1. I've heard good things and bad things about the reform and I don't know enough about it to make an informed judgment but that quote by Norman M. Thomas...wow.

  2. Very very good post. You are wise even though you say you don't know much. And I agree with the above comment that Thomas's quote is extremely interesting (and scary!). I just posted my views on my blog...djomitch.blogspot.com if you want to read it! love you!
